At PixeLINK, we design cameras for two main markets:
Industrial Machine Vision and OEM - these are square, boxy or bare electronic modules designed for high-performance applications where interfaces to external signals are required. Each camera has a connector for trigger input and general purpose outputs that can be configured in a wide variety of ways to simplify integration into machine vision applications. The board-level cameras also have a communications interface (I2C) to allow the host computer to communicate with other equipment through the camera's interface.
Microscopy and Scientific Imaging - designed to fit on a microscope, these cameras provide high-speed live previews and capture high-quality images and are ideal for applications where a high volume of images need to be captured in a short period of time. The cameras are designed specifically to support brightfield imaging in pathology applications where there are frequent slide and objective changes which vary the lighting. The cameras use a sophisticated continuous auto-exposure algorithm to maintain the best exposure at all times and to react quickly to changes in illumination due to specimen thickness or objective changes. The cameras will also ignore the momentary darkness of the objective changes to ensure the fastest possible response. CCD microscopy cameras can also be used in dark-field, polarization, and fluorescence applications.

Machine Vision cameras are designed for factory automation and inclusion in industrial equipment. The tables below list the main product numbers. Each version can be ordered in a variety of physical configurations. PL-A series camera, which will no longer be offered in 2008, are only available with FireWire interfaces. PL-B cameras are available with FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) and USB2.0 interface options. Note that frame rates will be slightly slower with the USB2.0 interface depending on host configuration and system variables. Otherwise, the FireWire, GigE and USB2.0 cameras are very similar. FireWire interfaces are IIDC 1.31 compliant unless otherwise indicated. GigE interfaces benefit from the use of longer cables, up to 100m.
