New Line of Machine Vision Cameras

New PL-C camera offers smaller cameras for demanding industrial applications.

PixeLINK®, a global provider of industrial cameras for the machine vision and microscopy markets, today announced the release of a new family of professional industrial cameras. Designed for demanding industrial applications, the PL-C series of machine vision cameras adds a set of smaller, more robust cameras to the PixeLINK product line.

"The new PL-C series of cameras offers industrial customers a high-end, lightweight professional camera," says William Lesniowski, President of PixeLINK. "With the PL-C, customers get the same professional capabilities of our PL-A and PL-B series, but in a smaller, more versatile package."

Using two – rather than three – camera electronics boards, PL-C series cameras use 33% less camera hardware than existing PixeLINK offerings and are 38% to 45% smaller than cameras from PixeLINK's existing professional camera line, the PL-B series. Their small size allows for easy integration into custom industrial applications in which a robust, high quality camera is required.

"The small size of PL-C cameras makes them easy to integrate and allows them to use less power," notes Lesniowski. "In fact, PL-C cameras do not require an external power connection as they can be powered through Hirose internal connectors."

Using a Firewire 1394b interface and offering DCAM v1.32 support, the PL-C series is ideal for use in biometric, parts inspection and metrology applications, to name a few. PL-C cameras are available in color and monochrome versions and offer 5.0 Megapixel resolution. In 2010/2011 PixeLINK will also introduce 1.3, 2.0, 4.0 and 12 Megapixel camera versions.

As with all PixeLINK cameras, PL-C series cameras can be combined with the acclaimed PixeLINK Software Developer's Kit (SDK) to streamline and simplify the integration of the camera into machine vision applications. The PixeLINK SDK also provides an API that is consistent across all PixeLINK cameras – allowing for simplified integration and reduced development time.
